Welcoming our new Assistant Director

Meet Camp Monroe’s new Assistant Director, Scott Snyder!

Scott SnyderYou may know him as the guy refereeing the Stanley Cup hockey tournament, one of the Blue Fame Color War generals, the Blue Power Ranger in our Color War videos, or maybe even as just that fun guy who’s always lending a helping hand around Camp.

There’s always something new happening at Camp Monroe!  This year, one of Camp’s true diamonds, Scott Snyder, has taken a full-time, year-round position at Camp as the new Assistant Director.

Scott came to Camp Monroe in 1997 at the age of ten years old.  He was a Camper for six years and then a Waiter.  When the time came for Scott to become a staff member, he became one of our Hockey instructors, and coached our famous Stanley Cup hockey tournament (something he has done multiple times since).  The following summer Scott became a Counselor for some wonderful Campers and he loved them so much that he was their Counselor for the next four summers.  In 2010 Scott joined the administrative side of Camp and became the Group Leader for our Waiters and Waitresses and the overseer of our Stanley Cup hockey tournament.  Even when he could no longer come to Camp full time in 2011 and 2012 due to work commitments, Scott couldn’t envision not spending as much time as he could at Camp.  He came up to Camp every weekend and helped out wherever necessary, making it almost seem as if he was always there.

Now Scott returns to Camp full time in a position that is very exciting.  Scott knows what Camp is all about and hopes to be able to bring to camp many new campers who are eager to experience all of what Camp Monroe has to offer.  He wants as many children as possible to get the “Only At” feeling that we know can only be found at Camp Monroe.  His presence in the office and on the phone, his smile and genuine excitement at camp fairs, and his warm personality talking with prospective campers and their families at Open House home visits has already had its impact on the 2013 season.  We wish Scott lots of success in his new position!
