Q: Where is Camp Monroe located?
A: Camp Monroe is located in Monroe, New York, about 1 hour north from New York City.

Q: How much time off will I get?
A: Each staff member gets 5 days off during the summer, 2 of which the staff member can leave the night before at 9:30pm.  Additionally, you will be off in the evenings about 4-5 times each week, and are free to leave the camp grounds from 9:30 until staff curfew at 12:30.  Also, each staff member may be given a period off by their group leader or activity head.

Q: What is there to do on my days/nights off?
A: Unlike many camps, Camp Monroe is not far from a local town.  We are within a 10-minute drive from many restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, and bowling alley.  For days off, we are only 15 minutes from the Woodbury Commons Shopping Outlet, 20 minutes from a local beach, 35 minutes from the Palisades Center Mall, and about an hour from New York City.  If you don’t wish to leave camp, you have full use of our staff lounge, complete with TV and Internet, during any time off you have.

Q: Where do most of the campers come from?
A: Most of our campers come from the tri-state area, namely Westchester, New Jersey, New York City and Long Island. We also have campers who come from down the east coast, such as Maryland, Georgia and Florida, as well as some campers who come internationally from Europe and Central America.

Q: What will my salary be?
A: For our American staff, we have a salary scale based on age, position and experience.  For international staff members, your salary is determined by the Camp Staffing Agency you use back home.

Q: What are the living arrangements like?
A: All bunk counselors and activity instructors will live in bunks with a group of 8-10 campers.  In addition to the campers, there will be 2-3 bunk counselors and 1-2 activity instructors. Each bunk has electricity and water, and is equipped with full bathrooms and showers.  Our adult staff will all have private rooms with either private or shared bathrooms.

Q: Is there a staff uniform?
A: There is no staff uniform that needs to be worn each day. We do ask that our staff dress modestly.  We do provide 3 staff t-shirts to be worn on the first day of camp, visiting day, and all out of camp trips.
