Q: What does “Only At… Camp Monroe” mean?
A: There’s an indescribable feeling you get when you spend a summer at Camp Monroe, a special place where lifelong friendships are made, critical skills are developed, self-esteem is fostered, and love abounds. Camp Monroe is known as Happyland; many thousands of kids have enjoyed blissful and safe summers here since our first year back in 1941.
Q: Where is Camp Monroe located?
A: Camp Monroe is located in Monroe, NY, about one hour upstate from New York City.
Q: What is the camper-to-staff ratio in your bunks?
A: Each bunk houses 8-10 campers, 2-3 counselors, and 1-2 instructors.
Q: What does an average day look like at Camp Monroe?
A: Each normal day features six activity periods—some scheduled for entire divisions and some individually elected—and includes pool time. We eat all three meals as an entire camp family. After dinner, we hold an evening activity, which could be a musical entertainer, talent show, or scavenger hunt.
Q: What kinds of Special Event Days do you have?
A: We have one Special Event Day each week, including 4th of July, Battle of the Sexes, Survivor Day, and Olympics. Every summer, our most beloved event is our four-day Color War, in which we split camp into two teams and compete in athletics, dramatics, art, music, smarts, and spirit.
Q: Do you go on out of camp trips?
A: We take our campers on different exciting trips every week. Destinations include Mountain Creek Water Park, Bounce! Trampoline Park, The Castle Fun Center, bowling, movies, and more. Each summer, our older campers go on a three-day trip to Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, or Lake George.
Q: Do you have options for kids with food allergies?
A: Yes! We’re acutely conscious of food allergies and provide delicious (and healthy) substitutes for those with unique dietary needs.
Q: How can I make sure my child takes his/her daily medication over the summer?
A: We distribute and/or administer any daily medication for our campers. All meds are kept out of the bunks and in the health center, and we have a fully-trained nursing staff responsible for their upkeep.
